The Highland Scramble Moto Camp FAQ

DO I NEED TO RIDE A SCRAMBLER STYLE MOTORCYCLE?

No. We welcome all types of motorcycles. However, there is some off-roading required to reach camp on a Highland farm. Fear not, we will get you down by other means if necessary. We would recommend taking a bike you don't mind riding off-road and getting a bit muddy.

DOES THE TICKET PRICE INCLUDE FOOD AND DRINKS?

Food and drinks for breakfast and supper are included in the ticket price. You will need to cover your lunch costs though.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY PLACE?

If something happens and you are no longer able to scramble with us, as long as we know 90 days before the event, we’ll process a full refund, minus the registration fee. If you need to cancel within 90 days of the event, we will refund 50% of the total, if we can sell your ticket then we will send back the rest of the ticket price you paid.  The deposit is not refundable, however, if we are unable to run the event your deposit will be moved to another date of your choice, subject to availability.

COST OF THE TICKET

We want to offer a trip that appeals to all different types of riders. So we price fairly to accommodate different budgets. The Highland Scramble takes a lot of consideration, planning, coordination and time! The knowledge and experience of the organisers is second to none and every detail is carefully collaborated. From unique locations, specialised kit, great food, support vehicle, insurance, content producers, chefs, and volunteers etc. We feel all of the above is calculated attentively and reasonably.

IS THE RIDE HARD GOING AND WILL THERE BE SOME PROPER SCRAMBLING?

The route is designed with variety and some roads will be more challenging than others.  The ultimate goal is to ride at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful scenes along the way. You may feel you want to push out of the comfort zone but we encourage you to ride to a level you feel safe and comfortable with. The camp is located off-road and has a forestry circuit we have access to.

HOW MANY HOURS/MILES WILL WE BE RIDING EACH DAY?

We aim to ride for around 200-250 miles per day, depending on the type of roads we take. The smaller, twisty ‘B’ roads, we allow more time for, and then the bigger ‘A’ roads are better for a bit of twist grip and road rip!  We anticipate each leg of the journey should be about 5-6 hours of riding, with breaks in between. Evening meals are aimed to be served around 7.30 pm.

CAN WE TAKE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS?

Please do and shout from the rooftops! Each ride will be allocated a unique hashtag for sharing and following.

CAN WE JUST TURN UP ON THE DAY AND BE FULLY INVOLVED?

Unfortunately no, we can only offer accommodation, food, and support to those who have paid in full for the tickets in advance. Come and join us for a scramble, a tea and some craic if you’re passing though!

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS ROUGH?

The Highland Scramble Moto Camp is not designed for the faint-hearted. If weather conditions are abysmal then we will hold tight for a prolonged pitstop, however, we are not ‘the sunshine only’ club. Weather conditions that pose safety concerns to our riders will be taken into account but the bottom line is, come fully prepared with wet weather gear and hope for the best!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET LOST OR SEPERATED FROM THE GROUP?

Everyone participating will be at different levels of riding. If you wish to go ahead or take your time, the route and directions will be shared with you on a group chat. The support vehicle is only a phone call away so don’t panic.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA COSTS?

You will be responsible for paying for your own fuel and any additional refreshments along the way. You will also need to pay for your lunches as well. The rest is sorted by your bikerbnb hosts and team.

ARE THE TICKET PRICES THE SAME FOR TWO PEOPLE ON ONE BIKE?

You’ll still need to purchase individual tickets to cover both of your accommodation and food costs. The tickets are sold per person, not per bike.

I AM NOT SURE WHICH DATE I CAN MAKE, BUT DEFINITELY WANT TO JOIN IN, CAN I BUY AN OPEN TICKET?

We have limited spaces on each Highland Scramble so we can only sell tickets for set dates. If you need to change a date, we will need to know in advance to see if we can accommodate you on a new preferred date, but we cannot guarantee a spot.

I DON’T OWN A BIKE AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME, CAN I RENT ONE?

Yes of course, we are now offering a motorcycle rental service. Speak to the team for more info or head over to our rental page for more information.

Testimonials

I had the most amazing four days riding with the Highland Scramble team in August.  The organisers are super friendly and professional with a nice balance of safety, flexibility and knowledge. The routes were all epic. Nothing beats the Scottish Highlands by motorbike.  There was a great mix of folk on the tour all of whom have remained friends since.  Great accommodation, awesome cuisine.  It's the full five stars from me!

— James Longworth
Moto Camp is the perfect retreat to come back to after a day of riding. The team at Bikerbnb are very accommodating to your needs and great at curating an itinerary that showcases the best of Highland roads, food and whisky.

— Dani Hair
The most fun you can have on two wheels! Having attended both the Traverse trip and Moto Camp, I would wholeheartedly recommend any Highland Scramble event to someone keen to ride the best roads with the best people. From perfectly curated rides led by experienced guides to evening campfires and amazing home-cooked meals, every box is ticked. The bikerbnb team makes you feel like a member of the family from the word go and create a truly personal and unforgettable experience, see you, next year folks!
