Highland Scramble FAQ’s
DO I NEED TO BE RIDING A SCRAMBLER STYLE MOTORCYCLE?
No. We welcome all types of motorcycles. However there is some off -roading required to reach a secret location deep on a Highland farm. Fear not, we will get you down by other means. We would recommend taking a bike you don't mind taking off road and getting a bit muddy.
CAN WE PUT THINGS IN THE SUPPORT VAN?
Yes the support vehicle is there for extra luggage, tools and to pick up any breakdowns and some emergency fuel just in case.
DOES THE TICKET PRICE INCLUDE FOOD AND DRINKS?
Food and soft drinks for breakfast and supper are included in the ticket price. You will need to cover your lunch costs.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY PLACE?
If something crops up and you are no longer able to scramble with us, as long as we know 90 days before the event, we’ll process a full refund, minus the registration fee. If you need to cancel within 90 days of the event, we will refund 50% of the total, if we can sell your ticket then we will refund the ticket price you paid. Deposits are nonrefundable after 30 days.
COSTS OF THE TICKETS
We want to offer a trip that appeals to all different types of riders. So we price fairly to accommodate different budgets. The Highland Scramble takes a lot of consideration, planning, coordination and time! The knowledge and experience of the organisers is second to none and every detail is carefully collaborated. From unique locations, specialised kit, great food, support vehicle, insurance, content producers, chefs, and volunteers etc. We feel all of the above is calculated attentively and reasonably.
IS THE RIDE HARD GOING AND WILL THERE BE SOME PROPER SCRAMBLING?
The route is designed with variety and some roads will be more challenging than others. The ultimate goal is to go at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful scenes along the way. You may feel you want to push out of the comfort zone but we encourage you to ride to a level you feel safe and comfortable with. One of your hosts is located off road and has a forestry circuit we have access too.
HOW MANY HOURS/MILES WILL WE BE RIDING EACH DAY?
We aim to Scramble for around 180-250 miles per day, depending on the type of roads we take. The smaller, twisty ‘B’ roads, we allow more time for and then the bigger ‘A’ roads are better for a bit of twist grip and road rip! We anticipate each leg of the journey should be about 5-6 hours of riding, with breaks in between. Evening meals are aimed to be served around 7.30pm.
CAN WE TAKE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS?
Please do and shout from the roof tops! Each ride will be allocated a unique hashtag for sharing and following.
CAN WE JUST TURN UP ON THE DAY AND BE FULLY INVOLVED?
Unfortunately no, we can only offer accommodation, food and support to those who have paid in full for the tickets in advance. Come and join us for a scramble, a tea and some craic if you’re passing though!
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS ROUGH?
The Highland Scramble is not designed for the faint hearted. If weather conditions are abysmal then we will hold tight for a prolonged pitstop, however, we are not ‘the sunshine only’ club. Weather conditions that pose safety issues to our riders will be taken into account but the bottom line is, come fully prepared and hope for the best!
WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET LOST OR SEPERATED FROM THE GROUP?
Everyone participating will be at different levels of riding, we appreciate that. If you wish to go ahead or take your time, the route will be shared with you on a group chat. We will also send you the route in advance for you to study. The support vehicle is only a phone call away so don’t panic.
MY BIKE IS GREAT, BUT IS NOT RELIABLE, IF I BREAK DOWN, CAN YOU HELP?
Our support vehicle will be there to help along the way. Equipped with tools and knowledge, we can assist with a roadside repair or pop the bike in the back. You can then be taken to the final destination of the day or taken to a local garage and check in somewhere, the choice is yours.
ARE THERE ANY EXTRA COSTS?
You will be responsible for paying for your own fuel and any additional refreshments along the way. You will also need to pay for your lunches as well. The rest is sorted by your bikerbnb hosts and team.
ARE THE TICKET PRICES THE SAME FOR TWO PEOPLE ON ONE BIKE?
You’ll still need to purchase individual tickets to cover both of your accommodation and food costs. The tickets are sold per person, not per bike.
I AM NOT SURE WHICH DATE I CAN MAKE, BUT DEFINTELY WANT TO JOIN IN, CAN I BUY AN OPEN TICKET?
We have limited spaces on each scramble so we can only sell tickets for set dates. If you need to change a date, we will need to know in advance to see if we can accommodate you on a preferred date, but we cannot guarantee a spot.
I DON’T OWN A BIKE AT THE MOMENT, CAN I RENT ONE?
Yes, of course, we are now offering Triumph Street Scramblers for rental. Speak to a member of the team for more info.
WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATION AND SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS?
Our accommodation on the Traverse and Moto Camp features glamping pods, modern bunkhouses, Scottish country homes and sometimes five-metre Bell tents. Please note, the sleeping arrangements throughout our rides are mostly shared among two riders. Upon arrival, we will pair you with a partner for the duration of the journey. If you are travelling with friends or family, please let us know in advance so we ensure you are grouped together. If there are additional concerns or considerations, don’t hesitate to contact with us via email at info@bikerbnb.com so we can ensure you feel safe, comfortable and enjoy the Highland Scramble.
